- Archaeological prospection
Through intelligent algorithms that remove vegetation from a LiDAR dataset, we are able to provide bare earth digital terrain models for archaeological prospection. Once the bare earth terrain model has been generated, a variety of techniques, such as simulated solar movement and view shed analysis, can be applied to the data to help discover geometric shapes in the landscape that may represent archaeology. These shapes are typically very hard to delineate on the ground. This tried-and-tested technique has been used to discover burial mounds, forts, old city walls and many other features.

- Landscape analysis
Our techniques have been deployed to aid in landscape analysis and interpretation. Through deployment of aerial LiDAR technology large areas can be systematically surveyed in high resolution. This provides the opportunity to consider the landscape at large, for example in battlefield analysis or the spatial analysis of dispersed sites.
- Preservation and restoration
Our mapping and surveying expertise has been deployed on a number of heritage projects to create a record of sites as a basis for preservation, restoration and education. Non-contact techniques are used to produce these mapping and survey records. Full control networks can be put in place at a site to ensure that subsequent survey work can be compared to previous surveys for change detection.
